Leaking through the cracks in your story
Dripping through your broken smiles
Dreams
Faded
Motionless
Jaded
That normal life
You thought you got
Is not
Will it get better someday?
Will the underlying problem go away?
You lost you
What to do?
Dear friend, are you okay?

About the poem
It’s kind of amazing what people talk about in a coffee shop. Today I overheard a very profound conversation. What started out with small talk after about 20 minutes, finally a young friend told her older friend about the abuse happening in her marriage. It was the first time she had been able to talk to anyone about it. the most amazing part, was how gentle honest and patient the older friend was. It was that skill and compassion that seems to be the key that allowed the younger friend to finally the truth. It was a great example for me, illustrating how a friend must be so careful and skillful if we want to be helpful.
