Poem: Walk in Peace, for Peace

If I can’t stand to be with you
How can I stand for peace?
If I can’t stand to work with you
How can I work for peace?

As a start
I’ll just walk for peace
Simply being with each other
Simply accepting each other as we are

Let’s just start there
Walking
Side by side
Let’s walk
In peace
For peace

About the poem:
Even in the smallest groups, there are differences of opinion. This can be enough to generate conflict, interpersonal conflict. But if we want peace in the world, we have to be able to master it in the most minute of our interactions. I think we can only learn peace on a big scale by getting along with each other on a small scale first.

Perhaps the simple act of getting together and getting along is bigger than it seems.

Today, we walked one mile in the 7th Annual Neighborhood Peace Walk, organized by my mom. A very peaceful morning!
